A tax (previously "marketable securities tax" or "MST") which is charged in terms of the Securities Transfer Tax Act (25 of 2007) on all share market transactions, as well as unlisted securities, at the rate of a quarter of a percent (0,25%) of the value of the transaction. STT is part of the dealing costs of trading on the JSE.
