A listing of a new security or an issue of more shares in an already listed security. Usually, if a company wants to raise additional capital they will do so by way of a rights issue to their existing shareholders. Their existing shareholders are likely to be familiar with the company's business and to already think favourably of it. New issues to the public are not common, except in an initial public offer (IPO) at listing.
