Shares, industries and markets move in cycles. According to Charles Dow, there are three types of cycles: primary, secondary and daily fluctuations. Primary trends last from 2 to 5 years, secondary trends from 2 to 6 months and so-called daily fluctuations from 1 to 10 days. If you observe the movement of a share, you will probably be able to see certain definite cycles, especially if you draw a graph. You can take advantage of these cycles to fine-tune your buy and sell decisions. There are also very long cycles. The grand super cycle in Elliott wave theory is 54 years long. This is also the approximate length of the Kondratiev wave.
