Most annual financial statements contain a Chairman's report, although this is not a requirement of the Companies Act. It is worth reading the chairman's report, especially for South Africa's largest blue chip companies because the chairman is usually very well informed about the South African economy generally and his industry in particular. You can obtain the Chairman's Report by downloading the company's financial statements from their web site. Almost all listed companies make their most recent financial statements available in PDF format off their web sites.
