The day on which the monetary policy committee (MPC) of the US Federal Reserve Bank (the "Fed") announces its decision on interest rates, usually at 2pm. Normally the S&P500 index rises strongly on these days and then the rally fades as the Chairman of the Fed begins to answer questions. Fed Days occur every two months in normal circumstances. For example, on Wednesday 18th June 2025 the S&P rose from 5987 to 6018 by 10h39, then it began to fall and had reached a low of 5987 by 13h35 in anticipation of the then Chairman, Jerome Powell's answers to questions.
