This is the main index used to measure the size and performance of the Shanghai Stock Exchange located in Shanghai in China. It is a Paasche index of all the shares trading on the SSE. It began with a value of 100 on 19th December 1990. It is a composite of "A" shares which are traded in renminbi by domestic investors and "B" shares also traded in renmimbi by foreigners. There is also an SSE 180 index and an SSE 50 index.
