A Latin term which translates to "per head". It is a term often used in economic and statistical data when comparing measurement of data to a population. The most common is the per capita measurement of gross domestic product or the per capita measurement of income. To calculate per capita, the statistical number, like gross domestic product, is divided by the number of the people in the population being analysed.
