In America and other countries, listed companies are required to report their financials every 3 months. In South Africa, listed companies are only required to report twice a year - "interims" after six months of their financial year end and then "finals" at the end of the year. Many JSE-listed companies are also listed on other stock exchanges which require quarterly reports and hence these companies publish those reports on the Stock Exchange News Service (SENS). This is particularly true of dual listed mining companies. Thus, for example, the mining company, Sibanye (SSW) which has a financial year end at 31st December, published its interim results for the six months 30th June 2021 on 26th August 2021. It then published an operating update for the 3 months ended 30th September 2021 on 28th October 2021.
