A requirement established by a the legislative authority of a country and encapsulated in a statute. There are many examples of statutory requirements in South Africa - such as the requirement that a business be registered for taxation purposes with the Receiver of Revenue. Indeed all the requirements of all the hundreds of Acts are statutory requirements. These requirements are further amplified and clarified by case law and precedents derived from the judgements of the court.
