A major shift in the earth's climate, almost certainly caused by the build-up of so-called greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. Current research shows that global warming is taking place much faster than was previously estimated. The ice caps and glaciers are melting, releasing fresh water into the oceans which will cause the sea level to rise and cause a shift in weather patterns probably resulting in worse droughts, floods and hurricanes. This is expected to happen before the end of this century.
