An item which is not required to be disclosed in terms of the Companies Act (71 of 2008). The Act is concerned to ensure that investors have sufficient information about the company to make reasonable investment decisions. Thus, for example, directors' emoluments and finance costs are disclosable items in the financial statements. Other expenses like rental expenses, salaries and cost of sales are not. As a private investor it is worth knowing exactly which expenses are disclosable and which are not.
