An Act designed to incentivise employers to employ young people in the economy. The Employment Tax Incentive Act (26 of 2013), which is also called the Youth Employment Tax Incentive, aims to provide a tax incentive to employers who employ young people by allowing a reduction of pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) tax payable by the employer. This effectively reduces the cost of hiring young people without experience. The scheme came into effect from the beginning of 2014 and has been extended to 2029 by the Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni.
