The regular remuneration of unskilled or semi-skilled, usually blue-collar workers in exchnage for their labour. Wages are often paid weekly or bi-weekly. This is as opposed to salaries which are paid monthly to management or white-collar workers. Wages are often based on a number of hours worked, multiplied by a rate per hour. Extra work done outside of normal working hours is paid overtime. Salaried employees and especially management are not normally paid overtime.
