The value of a share or other security on an organised exchange in the currency of the country where it is traded. In South Africa the price of shares is always given in cents per share. Every trading day the JSE produces a file of the end-of-day share price data for each listed, quoted share. That file gives the high, low, open and closing prices together with the volume of shares which changed hands during the day. Line charts generally use the share's daily closing price as the basis for their formulae.
