A commission set up in 1932 to look into the causes of the 1929 stock market crash. The commission found a wide range of abusive practices by banks and other financial institutions. Citibank (then National City Bank), particularly was exposed causing its chairman to resign. The causes of the crash of 1929 and the subsequent Great Depression are dealt with in a document entitled "Our Background Approach" which is under the heading "About" on the website www.pdsnet.co.za.
