Definition

A budget which is produced by the Minister of Finance outside of the normal budget times. The budget is usually tabled at the end of February and then up-dated later in the year (the "mini-budget" usually at the end of October), but occasionally, the situation changes radically both in the economy and government finances requiring the Minister to produce a supplementary budget. The best example of this is the supplementary budget produced by Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, on 24th June 2020 to take into account the impact of the corona virus and the subsequent lockdowns and government stimulation programs.
