An average index of the stock markets of emerging economies produced and maintained by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). It is weighted 40,95% China, 12,28% Taiwan, 11,61% Korea, 8,02% India, 5,14% Brazil, 3,76% South Africa, 3,23% Russia, 2,27% Thailand, 1,73% Mexico and 11,01% others. Emerging economies are becoming increasingly important in the world economy and are attracting the attention of investors worldwide. South Africa is a relatively small emerging economy - about two-thirds the size of Brazil and less than 10% of China. The index can be found in your software as I-MSCI and it is interesting to do a relative strength of the JSE Overall index against it.
