Definition

A group of 19 countries and the European Union which replaced the G7 and includes the larger emerging economies such as China and South Africa. Its objectives include promoting growth of the world economy and economic stability. The G20 represents about 90% of the world economies by GDP and three quarters of the world's population. Members meet at a summit once a year usually in the country that is hosting. The next summit will be in New Delhi in India in September 2023. Russia is still a member of the G20 despite its war in Ukraine.
