Definition

A market which is gradually getting stronger - successive highs and lows are higher than previous highs and lows. Firming trends can be short-term lasting for a few days or weeks, a rally which lasts for several months or a bull trend which can last for years. Nothing in the share market moves in a staright line, so every firming trend will certainly be followed by a weakening trend. Experienced investors will advise you not to "buck the trend". The best and safest way to be successful in the market is to buy shares which are going up in industries which are going up, in markets which are going up.
