These are newspapers, magazines, talk shows and websites that are devoted to reporting on developments in the financial markets for the benefit of investors and the business community. South Africa has a wide variety of financial media but only one daily newspaper which is devoted to business - the Business Day. We recommend that you obtain this either in hard copy or online and read through those parts of it which deal with listed shares and the local and international economy every day. It will give you a very good background into what is happening on the share market. The second financial media that you should pay attention to is the Stock Exchange News Service (SENS) which is published every trading day and contains the notices which listed companies post about major events in their business. When considering which financial media to patronise, you need to understand that your time is limited and you cannot read everything. There are a wealth of overseas publications, all available online, that can give you a good insight into what is happening in the world economy. You should also obtain the most recent financial results of the companies that interest you and read them through carefully. These can be obtained from the company's web site in PDF form.
