This is a set of rules and limitations placed on the trade in foreign currencies. The normal objective of exchange control is to enable the government to stabilise the flow of funds into and out of the country. A South African travelling overseas on holiday can take as much as R25 000 out of the country per annum without explicit permission. South Africans can also invest as much as R10m of their capital overseas in terms of current exchange control legislation.
