This is shortened to EBITDA and it shows the company's profits before non-operational costs. This allows investors to see the company's operating performance. Some companies express their gearing in terms of EBITDA or express EBITDA as a percentage of shareholders' equity or of turnover. It does not take into account the cost of the company's assets (which is in its depreciation charge) and that can be important.
