Definition

The date on which a company was founded. You should bear in mind that this date is often long before the date that the company was listed on the JSE. Your stock exchange handbook gives the year in which a company was founded. For example, Zeda (ZZD) is a company engaged in car rentals and vehicle leasing. It was founded in 1967 and listed on the JSE on 13th December 2022. It operates the Avis and Budget global brands throughout South Africa and in 10 other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. It was unbundled from Barlow World (BAW).
