This is an element of the balance of payments (BOP) toegther with the capital account. It shows a country's trade in goods and services with other countries. It shows the value of the country's exports minus its imports - which results in either a surplus or a deficit. The quarterly current account balance for South Africa can be seen at: https://tradingeconomics.com/south-africa/current-account. A continuous current account deficit has to be financed by an inflow of capital on the capital account. In the first quarter of 2020 the current account had a surplus of R69,7bn - but this was the first month it had been in surplus for some time.
