The amount of greenhouse gas (GBG) emissions (particularly carbon) put into the air by a person, company or other organisation. Your carbon footprint includes the burning of fossil fuels for heating or transportation or the production and use of electricity. The average per capita carbon emissions world-wide is 2017 tons per person - up 63,5% from 1990. The US was 15,7 tons per person and South Africa was 8,2 tons. Obviously first world countries tend to have much higher per capita emissions than emerging markets.
