In candlestick charting, the body of the candle is drawn between the opening price and the closing price and is coloured either green (when the close is above the open) or red (where the close is below the open). Above and below the body are drawn "tails" which extend on the upside to the highest price reached during the day and on the downside to the lowest price reached during the day.
