The Comex, which was previously the commodities exchange, is a division of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). It trades futures and options in a variety of precious metals and base metals. This data stream is for the price of the 1000 ounce gold futures contract. This contract is specifically aimed at private investors who want to trade gold in small quantities. The contract can be traded almost 24 hours a day. In many ways this data stream is very similar to the spot price of gold (M-gold$) - as you would imagine.
